Do Crystals "Clash"?
"Some crystals cannot be paired together, or they would clash or neutralise each other." This is one of those theories that have been floating around for years, but does it hold true? Let's analyse it logically!
Take an intense, energising crystal, such as Tiger's Eye, and a calming crystal, say Rose Quartz. According to this theory, these crystals neutralise each other, because Tiger's Eye is an energising crystal, while Rose Quartz is deeply calming.
At first glance, that sounds almost intuitive. However, this argument completely ignores one of the most important aspects of energy work: Intention.
What was the intention behind this pairing? If this was meant for relaxation, then sure, the Tiger's Eye wouldn't be a suitable crystal. Conversely, if this was meant to be an energetic boost, for example during a hectic work day, then Rose Quartz would definitely be out of place.
But what if...we wanted the energy of creativity from the Tiger's Eye, but we also wanted to temper the brightness of the energy? Wouldn't a Rose Quartz make perfect sense then, to buffer the intensity of Tiger's Eye with a bubble of calm?
Or what if it had been a particularly stressful day, and we wanted a Solar Plexus boost for enhanced burning of anxiety and stress, while also having a need to remain calm? The Rose Quartz would make perfect sense as a happy partner here, wouldn't it?
In my humble opinion, blanket statements in spiritual practices have a tendency to do more harm than good. Given enough traction, these basic beliefs can quickly become superstitions and myths. While I understand the advantages of using broad statements as guides for beginners, I have also come across articles and posts that have built on this basic theory of clashing crystals, and created a new myth: that many collections are now devoid of energy or benefits due to the energetic "clashing" of various crystals.
Crystals don't clash— but intentions might. As with any energy work, be mindful and clear of what your goal is, and work logically and intuitively towards manifesting that energy!
